Online Betting Guide (OLBG), a UK-based community sports betting platform, released the results of a study involving 1,000 bettors. The survey showed that out of every ten people, four have never been to land-based casinos.
The reasons why players prefer iGaming vary. 23% of online users are worried about something going wrong when visiting land-based casinos, and 22% are worried about looking out of place. Another 20% of respondents don’t want to go anywhere or say there is no one to keep them company. 15% of people who have been to traditional establishments have done so only once or twice in their lives.
A spokesperson for the Online Betting Guide said: “Habits are constantly changing. Online gaming sites are becoming more popular and their equivalents are evolving to adapt to new needs. “If they don’t, they risk being left behind as more people in the world shift to the online experience.”
According to the survey, 43% of players say that it is too difficult to enter land-based casinos, and 32% feel safer behind the screen. Only 16% of respondents are brave enough to play offline. Among the cities whose residents would most like to play in land-based establishments, London leads (49%). They are followed by Las Vegas (31%) and Paris (11%).
83% of respondents said the Internet has fundamentally changed the way people play games. Six out of ten respondents will not be surprised if the future of gaming involves virtual casinos that simulate traditional gambling establishments.
The most common games according to the survey results are lotteries (53%), sports betting (52%) and scratch cards (41%). 40% of respondents prefer entertainment that requires skill, such as sports betting and poker. 16% are willing to trust luck in games like roulette.
