Dutch gambling authority opposite Vinbet NVcompany accused by watchdog of providing unlicensed and unauthorized gambling to local residents in Netherlands.
Winbet NV comes under fire from regulators
Betting games offered in various Websites managed by Winbetincluding Doctorspins, Super1, WinnerCasino and GalaxySpins are not licensed by a regulatory authority and are therefore illegal. The regulator states that Dutch Customers could access websites, create accounts, deposit money and play games.
The watchdog said it expects Winbet NV to stop these violations or face a fine of 280,000 euros each week for a total of €840,000. The Netherlands Gaming Authority claims that none of the websites used technical measures to prevent Dutch players from registering on the websites, which violates the country’s current gambling laws.
If we take a closer look at the terms and conditions of the websites in question, it can be seen that they are restricted in certain jurisdictions, including Hong Kong, the United States, Israel and Serbia, but they do not mention the Netherlands.
Websites that violate gambling laws, the regulator says, will likely face the full fine. However, it is not clear whether Dutch gambling authority has the means to carry out the sentence and ensure its compliance.
Gambling companies broke the law in the Netherlands
At the moment, the regulator has managed to obtain a response from accredited operators who have challenged the decisions and fines in court, with some success.
However, not all operators are prepared to respond to legal pressure from state and jurisdictional regulators. The KSA also has limited means to enforce the punishment.
It is not the first time that a company has been fined in the Netherlands in recent weeks. Similarly, the KSA acted against NetX Rates LLC and block dance BV quite recently.
