UK gross gaming revenue rises 5% in 2023
The UK Gambling Commission has published betting entertainment market data for January to March 2023. Gross game revenue increased by 5% year-on-year, reaching 1.3 billion pounds (almost 133,000 million euros).
According to data from the iGaming sector
live sports betting experienced an increase in 13%. Slot machine gross revenue increased by 2%, reaching 551.7 billion pounds (56.4 billion euros). The total number of print runs grew by 9%, while the number of monthly active accounts showed a positive trend with an increase in fifteen%. However, the number of spins per session decreased by 7%.
During the first three months of the yeara total of 137.86 million of gaming sessions, compared to 117.38 million last year. The average duration of these sessions was 17 minutes, one minute less than in 2022. However, the number of sessions that lasted more than an hour increased by 10.45%arriving to 8.79 millions.
Revenue from slot machines increased by 5% to £292 million (€9.85 billion). They also increased the average spend per session (£12.26 or approximately 10 euros) and the average number of spins per session (131).
Gross income from other gaming operations
including casinos, decreased by 3.49%, reaching 153.11 million pounds (15,650 million euros). Poker statistics indicate a decrease of more than 7%, reaching 17.97 million pounds (18.37 billion euros).
The total number of customer interactions during the quarter decreased by 12%, reaching 2.9 million compared to the same period of the previous year. The majority of these interactions remain automated, although the number of direct interactions performed by operators increased by 31%.
